York, Ogunquit and Wells face a future challenged by environmental and climate change issues that affect our natural resources and the continued sustainable growth of our strong economy.
Gerry Runte is uniquely qualified to address the District's concerns at the State House.
Gerry brings 45 years of experience in the energy and the environmental fields, equally divided between senior executive positions in electric utilities and the launch of clean energy/renewable technologies.
Gerry is the former chair of York's Climate Action Plan Steering Committee, produced York's Climate Action Plan which was approved by York voters June 2022, He is also a former member of the town's Energy Steering Committee and Planning Board. He is currently a member of the York County Emergency Communications Team and the Maine Climate Action Council.
Before moving to Maine, Gerry was a Team Leader for six years with Santa Fe Search and Rescue Group, a volunteer wilderness rescue organization, a gubernatorial appointee to the New Mexico Search and Rescue Review Board and President, NM Search and Rescue Association.
Gerry is a veteran with 12 years of service, commissioned officer, in the U.S. Army.
